HTBE Wines is a winemaking project started by Chris, Suzanne, and Kyle Shepanek.
After collecting wines for many years Chris and his wife Suzanne searched for a place to grow their own grapes. Settling in the hills above Calistoga, they found a place to make their dream of having their own wine a reality. Their son Kyle is in charge of winemaking, sales, marketing, and making sure his parents don't drink all the wine themselves!
The estate is home to Cabernet Sauvignon & Sauvignon Blanc vineyards which provide fruit for the AshFall wines. The name AshFall refers to rocky soils found on the property caused by the eruption of Mt. Saint Helena some 3 million years ago.
The Observatory wines come for Poor Ranch Vineyard outside of Hopland, CA in Mendocino County. The vineyard is CCOF Certified Organic and dry-farmed.
The Non-Nomen wines are special onetime projects that come about from relationships with other wineries and growers.
Each brand offers unique wines with different points of view. We think you'll find a wine that's right for any occasion!
Our winemaking goals are simple, we strive to make wines that capture the spirit and character of this beautiful place we are lucky to call home. Our wines are balanced, food friendly, and enjoyable now and in years to come. We love being in the vineyards, caring for the land and the grapes, making the wines and, of course, sharing it with family and friends.
